Aloha and welcome to the Native Friends Talking Web featuring the
Kauai Pow Wow

Kaua'i Pow-Wow Shield by LightLine

The Island of Kauai hosted its First Annual InterTribal Pow Wow in October 1997. People from all over, Native Americans and island visitors and residents from all walks of life, came with an open heart to share in the festivities and the Pow Wow has returned year after year ot share a strong connection of culture and a proud heritage.

The primary desire in offering the Pow Wow on Kauai is to keep the American Indian community here in touch with their culture and enable them to share their proud heritage with the community. Here we can embrace the Native American spirit through music, dance, handicrafts and ceremony. Of course, a little bit of fry bread helps!! Aloha from LightLine.

Oh, Great Spirit,
I pray for myself in order that I may be healed.
Oh, Great Spirit,
I pray for my close friend who is sick and needs help.
Oh, Great Spirit,
I pray for this world so that all these atomic weapons
And other bad things that we point at each other
Will someday soon be destroyed.
I pray that adversaries will communicate
And all of the mistrust will be healed.
Oh, Great Spirit,
I pray for the environment.
I pray for its cleansing
And the renewal of our Mother Earth.
